Criteria follow the task's NGSS three-dimensional design. Model Development assesses the drawings themselves. The Plate Tectonics and Surface Processes criteria assess the core science ideas (MS-ESS2-3 for plate evidence, MS-ESS2-2 for uplift and erosion acting at different scales). Time and Change assesses the crosscutting concepts through Question 3 and the fossil being older than the mountain. Explanation Coherence assesses how the written answers tie everything together. The two disciplinary idea criteria carry the most weight because they are the target ideas of the unit.
